Meet the great team of volunteers that help provide vital services for the Norfolk region. The volunteers work is essential to saving lives and providing critical care at the scene of accidents.

Chris Neil

Carl Smith

I have worked for the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust for 14 years and I have been the Clinical Operations Manager in West Norfolk for the past three years. In 2008 I joined MAGPAS as a volunteer and in 2012 I completed my London HEMS training and also fly with the East Anglian Air Ambulance. I am married with two sons and I am a Retained Firefighter in the little spare time I have.

Dr Drew Welch MBBS FRCA

Anaesthetic Registrar in the East of England Deanery Joined NARS 2 years ago following 12 years experience within voluntary, private and NHS ambulance services. Previously Associate Tutor for the Certificate in Emergency Medical Care at the University of East Anglia and delivered a module in Pre-hospital Care at the Norwich Medical School.

Barry Hart

A Paramedic at Snetterton Race Circuit over 20 years and a member of NARS since 1994, Barry has responded to over 1,000 activations in his pare time for NARS. Diploma In Immediate Care Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh 2000 Instructor/Examiner for BASICS Education since 1997. Trained Nurse 15 years experience in Critical Care Area. Ryan Warwick

I have been a paramedic for the past 10 years, formally in the Armed Forces and since 2006, The East of England Ambulance Service. I also work for the trust as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) and Enhanced Skills Paramedic (ESP) and I have been an active team member for MAGPAS for 8 years. Dr Stephen Wilson

I qualified in medicine in 1990 from Bristol University and am now a Consultant Anaesthetist in the RAF, working from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I have a trauma and emergency background. I have had a pre-hospital interest for most of my medical career and have worked on Medical Emergency Response Teams, while deployed and I am currently a Consultant with the RAF Critical Care Aeromedical Support Team, responsible for returning critically ill service personnel to the UK from anywhere in the world, providing intensive care in the air. Closer to home, I am also a Senior Racecourse Medical Officer, providing medical cover at the two Norfolk courses.

Bob Griffiths

I have been a Paramedic member of Norfolk Accident Rescue Service for 18 years and have been involved in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care since 1980. In the past I have spent 30 years as a Registered General Nurse, with the last 13 years as a Charge Nurse of a joint Intensive Care / Coronary Care unit. During this time I have completed various courses centred around both Pre-Hospital and In-Hospital Critical Care.

DR TIM MORTON

I am a partner at Beccles Medical Centre and involved with BASICS for 24yrs, I also deploy my pre-hospital skills in my role as Senior Racecourse Medical Officer in charge of medical facilities at Great Yarmouth racecourse as well as Medical Director of a variety of equestrian, triathlon and marathon sporting events.

 

Dr John Morgan MBBS DRCOG MRCGP

Honorary Senior Lecturer at Norwich Medical School, UEA I am a full time GP partner in Loddon, and volunteer when able to assist with NARS. I gained a strong interest in pre-hospital work through my training in A&E and over the last 8 years as a general practitioner, and hold a certificate in Pre-hospital Emergency Care (BASICS).
