CPR Training Courses
Do you realise just how bad we are at saving lives in the UK?
Probably not - most people have no idea. But the truth is, if you have a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) outside of hospital in the UK, you’ll have just a slim 7% chance of surviving to make a good recovery.
That’s the worst survival rate in Europe. Holland, for example, has a 28% survival rate – and we’re also way behind most states in the USA.
It’s not difficult to work out why this is. Only 5% of the general public in the UK have been taught how to use a defibrillator (AED), and would know what to do if they encountered someone in cardiac arrest.
That’s a horrendous statistic when you consider that 60,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest in the UK every year – the equivalent of 3 fully laden Jumbo Jets crashing every week.
Here in Norfolk, around 600 people die from SCA each year, with only 42 cases surviving. It’s a sad situation and NARS want to change it by providing education so more people can survive SCA in the future.

What Is Cardiac Arrest?
A Cardiac Arrest is a sudden cessation of function of the heart. The heart will beat abnormally, preventing proper blood circulation.
Sometimes temporary, it can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, or history of heart issues. In fact, sudden cardiac arrest can be more likely to occur in younger people.
In the UK, as mentioned previously, the chances of survival and recovery are poor.
However, with correctly performed CPR and use of a defibrillator, the chances of a full recovery increase significantly.
CPR Training Sessions
We’ve obtained some grant money recently that will allow us to deliver a large number of CPR/AED training sessions across the county in the next 12 months or so.
These sessions will be available to the general public, and teach you how you could potentially save lives in your community.
We’re looking for venues to deliver these life-saving sessions, so if you’d like one in your local area – in a village hall, community centre, or other suitable space, please get in touch on 01362 698 007, or fill in the "Request A Session" form.
