LUCAS is a mechanical compression device that delivers CPR to a patient in cardiac arrest.

Studies have proved that the LUCAS device delivers the same standard of CPR as a trained person administering it.

However, unlike humans, the LUCAS device does not tire, is much safer to be used in a moving ambulance and continues whilst the patient is being moved.

The use of the LUCAS also frees up staff to deliver other lifesaving interventions.
