Over and Above the Ambulance Service
NARS Doctors and paramedics volunteer their time to enhance the level of care provided for patients who suffer serious injury or acute medical illness. Our responders have undergone significant extra training, allowing them to carry a range of drugs and equipment, not carried on normal ambulances.
An example of this is the Lucas 2 automatic CPR device. This machine delivers perfect CPR and has the benefit that, unlike humans, it doesn’t get tired. It can also be deployed in situations where manual CPR would be difficult, if not impossible, such as in a moving vehicle or when moving a patient down stairs. Although they cost over £9,000 each, they save the lives of many cardiac arrest victims.
