This course is designed to give participants the skills and confidence to recognise and manage a cardiac arrest. Participants include anyone who may be called on to respond to a cardiac arrest with an AED.

This course is designed to give participants the skills and confidence to recognise and manage a cardiac arrest, including the importance of early high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). It is a very practical course with lots of ‘hands on’ time to maximise skill retention. Participants include anyone who may be called on to respond to a cardiac arrest with an AED.

 

  • Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Recognise cardiac arrest
  • Perform Basic Life Support
  • Safely use an Automated External Defibrillator

Assessment: This course is assessed through ongoing assessment of practical skill and a written knowledge assessment (usually completed as the course progresses as opposed to a final written exam). There is no final summative assessment.

Certification: HABC Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF)

 

No previous first aid experience necessary.
