Many people are frightened to intervene when faced with a paediatric emergency; this course provides the knowledge and confidence to render safe and effective care.
This course is assessed through ongoing assessment of practical skill and a written knowledge assessment (usually completed as the course progresses as opposed to a final written exam). There is no final summative assessment.
The Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is run over 6 hours and is aimed at those who wish to gain knowledge, skills and confidence to act effectively should they be faced with a paediatric first aid emergency. Examples of participants attending this course may include parents or relatives of children, or school staff who do not require the full Paediatric First Aid award.
It is important to note that the 6-hour course is not suitable for those working with children that are require to meet the OFSTED / Early Years Foundation Stage criteria; the full Paediatric First Aid 12-hour course is required in this instance.
Certification: HABC Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
Minimum age 16 years.
No previous first aid experience necessary.
